Map the data journey
Identify what information the site requests for browsing, contact, newsletter signup, account creation and checkout. A privacy notice should explain the controller, purposes, legal bases, recipients, retention and user rights in language that can be connected to the actual interface.
Inspect consent and defaults
Optional marketing consent should not be hidden inside purchase terms or pre-selected. Cookie controls should distinguish necessary functions from optional analytics or advertising. Record what the interface does as well as what the policy says.
Describe visible security cautiously
HTTPS protects data in transit between the browser and site when configured correctly, but a padlock is not proof that the operator, product or checkout is trustworthy. Note the payment provider and redirect domain where visible; never collect or test real card details for editorial research.
Ask for payment clarity
Readers should be able to see accepted methods, currencies, fees, refund routes and the identity of the party processing payment before committing. Cryptocurrency-only or bank-transfer-only flows are not automatically illegitimate, but they change reversibility and deserve clear disclosure.
